The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been intense.
The first season presents a large cast of characters living within the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on October 29.
